Buying Guide for Large Character Inkjet Printers
When selecting a large character inkjet printer, consider these critical factors to ensure the device meets your specific printing needs:
Print Size and Resolution
The primary distinction for large character printers is their printable character height. Devices like the BENTSAI B85 offer up to 4-inch print height ideal for batch coding and industrial marking, while others cater to smaller prints. Also, resolution matters—300 to 600 DPI provides crisp and clear prints, particularly for barcodes and QR codes.
Surface Compatibility
Select a printer capable of printing on the surfaces relevant to your business. Handheld inkjet printers often print on both porous and non-porous materials such as wood, plastic, metal, glass, and fabric. Confirm the ink type matches your substrate for optimal adhesion and durability.
Ink System and Cost Efficiency
Integrated ink tanks with high capacity reduce refill frequency and operational costs. Consider printers with refillable or quick-drying inks to minimize downtime. Printers like Canon’s MegaTank and Brother’s INKvestment systems offer extended ink supply that benefit high-volume users.
Connectivity and Convenience Features
Wireless connectivity, cloud printing, mobile app support, and advanced features like duplex printing and automatic document feeders increase usability, especially for office environments. For industrial users, features that enhance print accuracy and speed are essential.
Portability and Application Environment
Handheld printers are suited for on-site marking and labeling, offering portability and flexibility. Larger office inkjet printers focus on document-related tasks, so choose accordingly based on whether you need industrial batch coding or general office/home printing solutions.
Evaluating these perspectives will help identify the best large character inkjet printer tailored to your requirements, balancing print quality, functional versatility, cost, and ease of use.
