Buying Guide for Shipping Scales and Label Printers
Choosing the right shipping scale and label printer depends on your business size, volume, and shipping methods. Here are some key considerations:
- Weight Capacity: Select a scale that supports the maximum package weight you typically ship. For heavy items, a scale with 100+ lbs capacity like the Rollo or Fuzion models is suitable.
- Label Size Compatibility: Most shipping labels come in 4×6 inches, but having printers compatible with various widths (1.5 to 4.6 inches) adds flexibility for different labeling needs.
- Connectivity Options: Bluetooth-enabled printers offer wireless convenience and mobile device support. USB connections are important for desktop setups and broader operating system compatibility. Note that some Mac users require USB as Bluetooth support may be limited.
- Print Quality and Speed: Look for thermal printers with 203 DPI or higher for crisp, scannable labels. High print speed (60+ labels per minute) increases productivity in busy shipping environments.
- Power Source: Digital scales powered by AC adapters provide consistent readiness. Battery-powered or dual powered options offer portability and backup during power interruptions.
- User-Friendly Features: Scales with tare and hold functions simplify accurate weighing by excluding packaging weight and maintaining stable readings on the display.
- Software and App Support: Printers with dedicated apps or driver support for major ecommerce platforms streamline label creation and order processing.
- Durability and Size: Compact and lightweight printers such as LabelCreate are ideal for small spaces and mobility. Shipping scales made with robust materials last longer under frequent usage.
By considering these perspectives, you can identify a shipping scale and label printer combination that enhances your shipping efficiency with accuracy and ease.
